Project overview.
Klimatkollen is a non-profit organisation increasing transparency and accountability around corporate climate impact. Their work makes emissions and sustainability data accessible, comparable, and usable for the public. Through Amplify, Netlight partnered with Klimatkollen to help scale this mission – combining technical expertise with a shared belief in open, trustworthy climate data.

Challenge & Approach.
Corporate climate data is often buried in complex, unstructured PDF reports, making it difficult to access, compare, and reuse at scale. Automating this process requires not only advanced AI capabilities, but also robust infrastructure and careful validation to ensure transparency and trust.
The team built and maintained the backend and APIs, developed AI-driven pipelines to extract Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions data from sustainability reports, and created tools to review and validate results. The collaboration also included improving PDF parsing, experimenting with new OCR models, automating data publishing, and continuously strengthening the platform’s infrastructure.

Impact.
The collaboration enabled Klimatkollen to process and publish climate data more efficiently and reliably. Manual work was reduced, and new sustainability reports could be ingested faster.
By making structured emissions data available through APIs and a public interface, Klimatkollen increased access to climate data for researchers, journalists, and the wider public – supporting greater transparency while maintaining high data quality and trust.
