AI Sandbox – Enabling AI-driven Innovation for the World Food Program

[01]
Project overview.
Together with WFP’s Innovation Accelerator, we designed and developed an AI Sandbox – a flexible, scalable, cloud-based environment enabling WFP and its partners to experiment, pilot and scale AI-driven innovations tailored to humanitarian operations.
[02]
Challenge & Approach.
WFP teams sought to leverage AI for humanitarian operations but lacked a dedicated, secure, and scalable environment for experimentation. Existing solutions were fragmented and difficult to evaluate or deploy effectively. By assessing current tools, mapping domain models and workflows, and implementing tailored infrastructure, we built a solid business and technical foundation for sustainable AI adoption.
[03]
Impact.
The AI Sandbox now serves as a responsible, safe environment where innovative AI use cases can be developed and tested with transparency and ethical oversight.
Responsible AI at Scale: Supports diverse humanitarian use cases, from food-security forecasting to operational automation.
Efficiency Gains: Reduces manual setup, accelerating testing and deployment.
Sustained Impact: Strengthens WFP’s capacity to deliver faster, data-driven humanitarian aid.
